Adrenaline Forest
In Spencerville, the Adrenaline Forest has an aerial obstacle course with ropes and tree swings helps active adventurers young and old to make their own excitement in this amusement park.
Avon River
The river winds through Christchurch and people can hire boat tours and rent kayaks for leisurely self tours. Other recreational activities take place on or near the water like strolling in parks beside its banks and bird watching.
Canterbury Museum
The Antarctic exhibit is a favourite, but the entire museum is a treasury of natural history and Canterbury culture. Visitors should plan time to see the many amazing galleries.
Christchurch Botanic Gardens
Admission is free of charge at Christchurch Botanic Gardens on Rolleston Avenue. The beautiful park near the banks of the River Avon has lovely plants native to New Zealand as well as exotic plant varieties.
Willowbank Wildlife Reserve
On Hussey Road, this wildlife park is the place to get close to Kiwi in their natural habitat. Farm animals are also kept at the reserve. Two special features include a night tour and a wonderful cultural show put on by the Maori.
