Queenstown Weather

The resort village of Queenstown is built in a lovely spot in the mountains along Lake Wakatipu’s inlet, Queenstown Bay on South Island, New Zealand. With its close-proximity to the Southern Alps and the western coast, precipitation is regular. Even though the town is at a fairly high altitude, Queenstown weather is influenced by the sea with a maritime climate.

Visiting Queenstown

Even though the snow does not remain on the mountains all year, the frequent precipitation ensures snowstorms and thick, fresh snow on the slopes for skiing. Most visitors to Queenstown come for winter sports and the long snow season from autumn through spring. Still, water sports, mountain biking and other outdoor sports are perfect in this location during the summer.
